Spring is almost here!

Although tomorrow is the first day of Spring, March has been a bit confusing for the meteorologists. Gallaher Landscaping had put away all of the snow plows, salt spreaders, and snow blowers last week. Once the snow started falling yesterday afternoon and the temperatures kept dropping, we made a quick turnaround. All of our clients parking lots were salted once the snow began and then all properties cleared once the snow stopped and transitioned into rain over night.

The Unpredictable Fall of 2011

This fall has been anything but ordinary in Central PA. Hurricane Irene struck the mid-state in the late Summer leaving down trees and limbs in its path. It wasn’t until the early Fall that properties were finally cleaned up from that storm. Then came the surprising snow storm before Halloween. Gallaher Landscaping made an extremely quick turnaround to get snow equipment hooked up and ready to go in time for the storm. Thanks to advanced planning Gallaher Landscaping had ample supplies of rock salt prior to the storms arrival. This snow storm brought a very wet snow damaging trees and shrubs everywhere due to the leaves that haven’t dropped yet. It’s been a long time that snow has been flying while the fall foliage is at its finest. Gallaher Landscaping has been busy servicing our clients with prompt storm clean-up while continuing to do fall pruning and leaf removal. Before too long the snow will be flying again!

Rain!

Spring has arrived with enough rain for the next four months. We have been crazy busy keeping up with all of our lawn maintenance clients. The grass is growing very fast and all the rain makes it tough to fit in mulching jobs.  Our list of clients and new contracts continue to grow as our hard working crew keeps up with all the work! The rain is definitely important, but a few days of sun would be nice so we can make some headway.

What Gallaher Landscaping looks for in hiring snow removal employees?

Check out our clip with CBS 21 News- Gallaher Landscaping- Snow Removal.

Gallaher Landscaping was recently featured on CBS 21 evening news discussing what employers look for in hiring seasonal employees for jobs such as snow removal. Although having previous experience in snow removal is a plus, those skills can be taught. We look for timely, hardworking, individuals that have flexible schedules. When it snows or we have an ice storm, we’re the first responders to our commercial and residential properties. It is our job to clear parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks before the morning commute to make things easier for our clients.  During snow removal we work hard while thinking clearly, respecting the commercial and residential properties that we care for, looking for potential hazards, and leaving the outdoor “brand” sharp and safe. Through all of our services, we care for our client’s properties as if it was our own. We pride ourselves in the fact that all properties get cleared by the appropriate time. With snow removal, especially on commercial properties, time is of the essence and everyone gives 110%.

Let it snow!

Gallaher Landscaping has been busy in January keeping up with all the winter storms. December spared us without much precipitation, but January made up for it. We have been fortunate to keep our salt supply when other contractors and municipalities have run very low or out in some cases. Our crew and equipment are geared up and ready for February and the storms ahead.  Stay tuned to our Facebook page- facebook.com/gallaherlandscaping for any updates regarding upcoming storms and snow removal.
